Alan Davidson Lab.
My laboratory focuses on elucidating the mechanisms of protein-protein interactions and macromolecular assembly. We study these phenomena in the context of yeast signal transduction pathways and viral morphogenesis. A major goal of my research program is to provide a fruitful training ground for my students where they can gain experience in as many techniques as possible, and develop independent projects based on their own interests and strengths.
Howard Lipshitz Lab
We study post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in Drosophila with a focus on RNA-binding proteins and small RNAs that regulate the stability, subcellular localization and translation of maternal mRNAs in early embryos. We use gene-by-gene and genome-wide analyses of the transcriptome, ribonome and proteome.
James Rini
Our research interests are centred on the structural characterization of protein-protein and protein-ligand complexes by x-ray crystallography. The specific research projects can be grouped into three main categories: i) protein-carbohydrate interactions and glycosyltransferases, ii) adhesion molecules of the cadherin superfamily and iii) cell surface signalling receptors.
Marc Meneghini
The lab’s interests concern mechanisms of eukaryotic cellular differentiation. As a model, we use the sporulation program of the budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. We study epigenetic mechanisms controlling gene expression during sporulation as well as a new and novel form of programmed death we have recently discovered accompanies this process.
Peter J. Roy
The Roy lab has two main interests, both of which capitalize on the simplicity of the tiny nematode worm Caenorhabditis elegans as an experimental animal model system.
Our Interest in Developmental Biology:
One half of my lab studies how specialized muscle membrane extensions, called muscle arms, are guided to the nerve cords during the development of the neuromuscular junction—a feature that allows nerves to control the contraction of muscles.
